About the Font
Bonesana is the first font release by Gestalten Fonts, which includes Open Type features. Designed by Swiss typographer Matthieu Cortat, this font was initially developed for the new edition of the book On Crimes and Punishment written by the Italian philosopher Cesare Bonesana, Marquis of Beccaria in the late 1700s. Created in the same spirit of the seminal treatise, the Bonesana font itself reflects utilitarianism, clarity and reason and is a contemporary take on the transitional typefaces of the early 18th century such as Baskerville. Bonesana is a serif text font that is ideal for setting texts in books and magazines but it is also perfectly legible and beautiful in big sizes.

Matthieu Cortat is typographer currently working at the “Musée de l’Imprimerie et de la Banque“ (Museum of Print and Bank) in Lyon and is also on the graphic design team at the Swiss publisher Éditions de la Société jurassienne d’Émulation.

Bonesana is currently the most extensive font family released through Gestalten. It contains 5 styles including Tabular Lining Figures (TLF), Proportional Lining Figures (PLF), Old Style Figures (OSF), Small Caps with old style figures (SC) and Ornamented capitals (ORN) in Regular and Italic weights.

Bonesana is available in 6 different packages to suit your individual needs: Bonesana PRO Expert, Bonesana PRO, Bonesana Standard Western Latin, Bonesana Central European, Bonesana Greek and Bonesana Cyrillic.
