Hello Mr. #7

Aus dem Pressetext der aktuellen Ausgabe: Hello Mr., the magazine about men who date men, has put its seventh issue on the stands with emerging singersongwriter Parson James on the cover. Parson is a collaborator with Kygo for their charttopping “Stole the Show” and has a forthcoming album. Also in this issue is an exclusive look at the daytoday life of installation artists Elmgreen & Dragset shot by Mark Peckmezian, as well as a comic penned by Steve Orlando, Marvel writer for the Midnighter-series.

This issue is devoted to the challengers and the dissatisfied. “Cover mister” Parson James was born and raised in the deep South, the lovechild of a broken, interracial family. Before making the move to New York, and before landing a record deal and performing in Barclays Center, Parson was sleeping under the staircase of a questionable Brooklyn apartment and barely scraping by. A true story of hustle, Parson’s aim to defy and rise above his past is what this issue is all about.

“The people that we look up to are often, to start, dissatisfied with the status quo.” says founder and editorinchief Ryan Fitzgibbon. “The stories in this issue highlight the idea that dissatisfaction propels us forward – it creates some of the best minds and talents we have today.” We also sent photographer Mark Peckmezian to capture a day in the life of Elmgreen & Dragset, the installation artists behind Prada-Marfa and other renowned art pieces across the entire world. Though they are no longer a couple after over a decade of collaboration, they maintain their creative partnership in a way that challenges how we think about modern relationships.

Following along with the theme, in a comic penned by the legendary Steve Orlando – the only author to pen a solo series for a gay male protagonist in a mainstream comic – we find the boundaries between gay subcultures literally broken in an exclusive strip drawn by artist Sina Grace. “This issue is our biggest yet,” says Fitzgibbon. “The collaborators we’ve worked with over the last three years have inspired us to step up our editorial game this time around.”

Issue 07 hits stands this week, joining a family of Hello Mr. cover misters including Grizzly Bear frontman Ed Droste, RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Dan Donigan (aka Milk) and radical music queen Perfume Genius.
