The highly selective TDC competitions will choose the most innovative, beautiful, and smartest typographic designs from 2014.

TDC61 is chaired by Doug Clouse (The Graphics Office). The judges are:
Chelsea Cardinal (GQ, New York)

Pum Lefebure (Design Army, Washington, DC)

TDC 2015 is chaired by Roberto de Vicq (de Vicq Design). The judges are:

The winning work will appear in the Type Directors Club annual, Typography 36, designed by Abbott Miller of Pentagram and will be available in bookstores in 2015.

“Typography has reached a new level of abstraction, untethered to fixed or physical media,” says Miller, who is also designing the competition materials. “As we encounter the eerie weightlessness and lack of certainty about design and typography, we return to the fundamentals of form, space, line, and motion.”

The winning entries will be exhibited in seven traveling shows beginning in summer 2015 in New York City. In addition to touring the United States and Canada, the exhibitions will also tour in cities worldwide, including Seoul, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Taipei, London, and cities throughout Spain, France, Germany, Japan, and Russia. The entries will also appear at the 2015 ATypI conference in São Paulo, Brazil.

The Type Directors Club is a non-profit professional organization that has been dedicated to educating its international membership and graphic arts community about type, type design and its myriad uses in the field of communication since 1946.
