Born in Senegal, Muranero studied in Africa, France and Italy: music and painting in Dakar and Paris and glassmaking at the Abate Zanetti Glass School in Murano, Venice (Italy).
His main goal is to evoke the atmosphere of Africa through his handmade lampwork glass beads: this technique is very ancient in Murano, but he always tries to find a way to differentiate, not only through uncommon colours. In most of his beads he removes glossiness, and he usually mixes the tecnhique of Murano (where decorations are exterior) and the American technique (where the beads are decorated inside and then immersed in crystal). But his real inspiration is Africa, where they also produce beads, though these are made of recycled glass, since there are no glass factories. In fact, he also makes beads with recycled materials, just as paper. In his jewels (necklaces, earrings, rings, pendants, bracelets and single glass beads) he sometimes mixes the beads with wood, textiles and bamboo, but never with materials like ebony or ivory: he does respect nature and he doesn’t want to use anything which could destroy it.
