In recent days and over the last years, the reinforcement of fences and borders contradicted the free and united idea of a borderless Europe. The progressive work of decades is questioned more than ever. The new nationalism bears a medieval castle impenetrable to outsiders who seem to threaten the survival of those within.

But all this national pride roots from nothing: If you overlap all borders of Europe from the last centuries it shows that nationalism, egoism and protectionism has no ground. The free spirit of Europe that finally lead to overcome those borders should be the common ground for the future. Coexisting was and is always one key element of a European success.

Segregation is an ever-present given. It has been for the last decades, years, months. But especially: now. We stopped sharing workspaces, streets, hugs, homes. We share less and less of the same qualities of life. Of options. Of possibilities. But there is something we will always share. We share air.

People’s coexistence creates many problems in all areas of life that are completely unnecessary and irrational. Society is torn apart and the gap between the parties is widening. Welcome to 2020.

Shapes that symbolise people, nature and our environment coexisting as one, revealing the interconnected bond between us and the Universe.

A plea to coexist. Aiming to manifest the necessity of coexisting by lifting up each others voices. As colors and ideologies coincide, nations follow suit, despite varying principles. With a combination of vulnerability and power “can we?” is the question we need to ask ourselves.

Coexistence : A composition out of two similar fabrics, carrying two different ideologies that are originated from the same region in Middle east. Brothers, friends before, those two religious entities unfortunately have been torn down by the deformation of the historical filter of politics and are now in extreme difficulty to reconstruct a normal relationship. However inside those two religions leans — just like the very same textile thread — the essence of peace and reconstruction. Both religions aspire for peace and respect and it is shown in the way they greet each other which sounds almost the same. Shalom Aleikhem and Salaam-Alaikum.

Coexist of love – a lovely reminder and a representation of how we keep in our core those who we love and make us strong.
Collective existence – we are all in this together bound by a same cause, let us hold and help each other.
Mind coexist – my visual representation of coexisting with our inner demons.

Thinking about coexisting, intersecting and separated groups.

My work approach to the matter is manifested through typography and religious symbols.
Overlapping and merging letters as well as a geometric symbol combining two separate arms into one, the X letter center light and religious symbols exposed in one folded sheet of paper symbolize the indispensable need of reconciliation by reducing social divisions and tolerance.
So crucial, especially in the light of recent happenings.

It’s been 50 years since the Treaty for the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons came into force. We coexist together under the constant threat of this man-made technology that still has the power to destroy us all.

Humans learned to coexist in unlikely spaces. The desire to alter these unfriendly environments has always been stronger than any concern about breaking the rules or creating discomfort for others. This me-first mentality is everywhere, this lifestyle is on display – one can intrude and examine from the outside.

To be an invisible part of society, is a wrong assumption. Everybody is part of a living and vibrant system, even when this seems not so visible any more to many of us. The tiptoeing alienation of people – not necessarily from nature – but rather from the consciousness of what your own actions evoke, leads into a
dangerous tilt. Everybody is part of a whole. Everybody is valuable and useful. Everybody equally contributes to the stability of a whole.
Living is a fact aand a, not a competition. When we support tendencies that directly or indirectly harm others, our homes and habitats, we eventually destroy ourselves.

My poster is based on a very simple concept regarding the lack of empathy. To change the current social status, we need to take a step back and look past our ego. The basic typographic visualisation of “ME” turning into “WE” is my response to this problem.
