Die Kunst der Typographie

Format: 21 x 14.5 x 2.5
Price: 19.90

A handbook by the creator of the world-famous typeface “Futura”. “Die Kunst der Typographie” [The Art of Typography] is probably Paul Renner’s most important publication, released in 1940, but its content is still up-to-date. This edition was out of print for decades and is reprinted in this issue.
“Die Kunst der Typographie” is an exemplarily structured book for everyone. Without dogmatically proclaiming recipes, Renner sensitises the reader to type and its application. A treasure trove for anyone who is involved in the design and typesetting of printed matter or books, either professionally or just for fun. No library with a selection of books on graphicdesign and type should be without this book.

Paul Renner, born in Wernigerode in 1878, studied painting in Berlin, Karlsruhe and Munich, Germany. In 1925 he studied commercial art and typography at the Frankfurt Art School. In 1926 Renner was head of the Munich Graphic Vocational School. He emigrated in 1933 to Hödingen, Switzerland where he lived as a painter and died in 1956.
