Unterwegs – Wie und wohin? / On the way – How and whereabouts?
Cutout – a piece of paper is the material and a knive or scissors are the tools. The cutout is therefore sometimes called „stylus-art“. Like copper engraving and woodcarving has the paper cutout peculiar characteristics. One recognizes a paper cutout by the first glance and one identifies the handwriting of the artist as well. Those characteristics are preserved, even after the process of printing. In “On the way - How and whereabouts?” Ursula und Otto Kirchner show this phenomenon with a series of artworks concerning the motive of being on the way, a remarkable human behavior.
