Hot Summer Werkschau Design 2026

At the end of the summer term 2026, the graduates of the Design departments of the Peter Behrens School of Arts at the Hochschule Düsseldorf–University of Applied Sciences, will present their projects during the Werk-schau Design 2026.

Around 150 young designers specializing in Communication Design, Exhibition Design, New Craft Object Design, and Retail Design are looking forward to your visit.

Hot Summer: Summer is more than a season. It is a state of mind. Between heat and ease, between exhaustion and excite-ment, perception begins to shift. Colours intensify, contours soften, and familiar structures begin to dissolve. Everything slows down and becomes more intense at the same time.

The visual identity of Werkschau Design 2026 is based on thermal imaging recordings made across the Hoch-schule Düsseldorf campus. Capturing traces of heat rather than visible surfaces, these images offer an alter-native view of familiar surroundings. Through transformation and abstraction, the recordings evolve into vibrant colour fields where their original motifs become increasingly indistinct. Fragments of the campus dissolve into glowing gradients, fluid transitions, and atmospheric surfaces, while typography emerges from and blends into the visual landscape. Translating heat into colour and atmosphere, the design creates a visual framework for the Werkschau that reflects the intensity, fluidity, and transformative energy of summer.
