Hair is the issue with taking issue with hair – there shouldn’t be one. A powerful representation of power, resilience, strength, unity, the braids I present are binding yet freeing of a stigma that surrounds divisions and “tolerance” thereof. There is no tolerance in living and letting live. There is only a silent co-existence.

Treat everyone like you want to be treated yourself and we’ll all have a laugh together.

unbiased beginnings shows the place from where every human being comes from. every human being exists because of a coexistence of cells. that’s the elementary requirement for a successful (co)existence.

The photo is part 5 of my series ›There are two sides to every question‹ and was taken in Israel in 2010, showing an Arab village and a Palestinian riding a horse on the border between the two territories. When I lived in Israel, I was impressed & at the same time moved by the incredible number of cultures that live here in a very limited space, but which make life difficult for each other.
This photo represents the coexistence of people of different origins, religion and political convictions as well as man’s intervention in nature and her response. Then as now, existing problems frustrate and climate change makes life in the Middle East more difficult. The solution is still a long way off.

Many Countries – one world.
Everything is at stake. So all countries have to go »all in« for a common world.
That is the conceptual background of this poster. Overlapping the different flags, a new symbol for coexistence appears.

Language and how we address and talk to others are crucial. A lot of the time people use certain phrases or words to praise or complement someone but in actuality they’re being racist, exclusive and inconsiderate. For example in Egypt, people might use phrases like “Christian but kind,” “dark-skinned but beautiful,” “low class but smart,” etc. while being completely unaware of how offensive they are.

The posters highlight the word “but” in Arabic because it’s the common problem with all the collected phrases. “buts” can appear healthy and shiny but really they’re rotten and ugly. The phrases can coexist without any “buts.”

Living side by side we often still feel lonely. Lost, invisible, unimportant. Nobody understands us. Nobody has the same problems we have. But if we open our eyes we will see that we are not caught on our selfmade island. Sometimes we just have to make a bigger step to reach somebody. Sometimes we just have to turn around or overcome our fears, we have to make the first step.

This image was constructed bearing in mind the importance of preserving the Amazonian forrest and its indigenous people by right.To coexist is to take action, to learn from our natural surroundings and to be accountable for our choices. We are responsible and capable of creating a new pedagogy by design in order to better understand our function in the world to come.

I no longer want fools to hold our future in their hands.

In order to coexist we most comprehend that every part and detail of this world is connected so we can create a better one for everyone.
