FS Shepton
Fontsmith hat die Veröffentlichung einer neuen Schrift namens FS Shepton angekündigt. Eine brandneue Schrift die buchstäblich handgezeichnet wurde und als Display Font für Verpackung, Werbung und Auszeichnung in Läden entwickelt wurde.
Die meisten »handschriftlichen« Schriften sind gänzlich digital entstanden. Genau das Gegenteil liegt bei der FS Shepton vor. Von Anfang an war das Ziel eine 100% hand gefertigte Schrift zu entwerfen, die absichtlich nicht perfekt ist und von ihren organischen Formen und Texturen lebt. Sie soll an Schilder in Delikatess- oder Lebensmittel Läden erinnern.
Die FS Shepton ist die erste Veröffentlichung des neuen Fontsmith Designers Andy Lethbridge. Andy's wunderschönen, per Hand gezeichneten Schriftzüge auf Instagram und seine gelungene Abschluss Ausstellung waren der Anlass ihn mit ins Team zu holen. Nach Experimenten mit unterschiedlichem Werkzeug, hat Andy drei Alphabete entwickelt, denen der gleich Charakter inne wohnt, die aber sehr unterschiedliche Texturen und Stile aufweisen.

FS Shepton Regular, drawn with a wet brush pen, is solid with a rough outer edge and a casual but controlled feel. The dry brush used to create FS Shepton Light gives it more inner texture and a more formal, slanted, calligraphic style. FS Shepton Bold, drawn using a wider, looser dry brush pen, has a woody grain in the middle of its broad strokes and greater solidity where the brush moves more slowly. In contrast, the letterforms of conventional script fonts are simply fattened digitally to generate heavier weights. The three weights of FS Shepton have been created as display fonts that all offer something different to labelling, packaging, point-of-sale and advertising. Lovingly crafted by hand, they’re a good match for products and settings that share the same artisinal qualities: organic foods, drinks and healthcare products, as well as premium chocolate, coffee and condiments.
