TipoITALIA 1 / Typomagazin aus Italien

Magazine, welche ihren Schwerpunkt auf Typografie legen, sind rar. Umso mehr hat es mich gefreut, dass nun auch in "Bella Italia" ein wunderschönes Typomagazin entsteht: Tipoitalia.

Die erste Ausgabe befasst sich mit
- Fassaden und Ladenbeschritungen aus vergangenen Zeiten
- »Dante«, eine Antiqua von Giovanni Mardersteig
- Covergeschichte seit 1933 des italienischen Grafikmagazins »Campo Grafico«
- Schriftenverlag Nebiolo
- Portrait des Typedesigners Piero De Macchi
- Präsentation von typografischen Büchern, welche an der Bauer School in Mailand entstanden sind
- Type history: the Italian monstrosity

Einführung in Ausgabe 1:
The history of writing and type in Italy has always been of prime concern to scholars throughout the world. The wealth o shapes of the Latin letters on title pages, manuscripts, calligraphy manuals and other books seems inexhaustible. They present models that remain vital and continue to guide and inspire modern graphic design.

Tipoitalia celebrates the protagonists of the Italian history of written communication and all rhose major and minor treasures that have come down to us through the centuries. Our magazine aims to single out the links with themes that keep the typography of the past relevant to today: links that are still strong and are coming to the surface again in contemporary Italian graphic design. Much that is new had simply been forgotten: knowledge is the key to consolidate the creative bridge between the visual cultures o past and present.

Ich finde Tipoitalia sehr interessant, vorallem, weil es sich eben schwerpunkthaft mit italienischem Typedesign auseinandersetzt. Wer kennt Typomagazine, die es vielleicht gar nicht mehr gibt (z.B. Emigre), gerade neu erscheinen, und, und, und?
