GRANSHAN Competition and Conference 2017

Schon seit 2008 zelebriert Granshan non-Latin Schriften und Typografie, Design und Kommunikation. Diese ermöglichen nicht nur ästhetische Vielfalt, sondern auch kulturellen und wirtschaftlichen Austausch und generieren so eine Balance zwischen lokalen, regionalen und globalen Werten. Dieses Jahr geht der Wettbewerb in die zehnte Runde und verleiht Preise für die besten arabischen, armenischen, chinesischen, kyrillischen, griechischen, hebräischen, süd-asiatischen, koreanischen und thailändischen Schriften sowohl in der Kategorie Mengentext als auch Displayschriften.

Zur Feier des 10-Jährigen Jubiläums kommt die Konferenz zurück an ihren Entstehungsort Yerevan und wird sich rund um das Thema »Living Letters« drehen. Außerdem launcht Granshan mit granshan.com eine neue Webseite auf der man sich eingehend über den Wettbewerb sowie die Konferenz informieren kann und auch über deren interessante Entstehungsgeschichte viele Informationen findet.

Einreichungen für die GRANSHAN Competition 2017 sind bis zum 1. September 2017 möglich. Type Designer sind herzlich eingeladen teilzunehmen. Mehr Infos hier.

Since 2008, Granshan has been celebrating non-Latin typefaces and typography, design and communication that enable communities to develop culture and enterprises in a balance between local, regional, and global. Now going into it’s tenth installment, the competition welcomes entries in the following scripts: Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, South Asian scripts, Korean and Thai for typefaces for text use, with a special category for entries for display use. 

A tenth anniversary has to be celebrated, so the GRANSHAN conference will be returning home to Yerevan: a crossroads of cultures, and a place with a deep engagement with the written word. The theme of the conference is »Living Letters«, which chairman Boris Kochan expanded on: »Because we are inspired by the combination of a growing awareness of the complexity in regional and local cultures, and the constant change in global typography driven by new ways of authoring and reading content.« A new website will also be launched and holds all relevant information for the rules of the GRANSHAN competition.
