As an Iranian, I am very ashamed and sorry that my country is helping Russia, and I am against this war at first, and my heart is with the people of Ukraine.

Iʼve documented my feelings and experiences in Mariupol in 2022 and I believe that world needs to see, read, and feel this.

I was born, grew up and lived through russian environment in Mariupol. All photos used in zine were taken by me in my hometown.

Zine was created with aim of capturing condition of thousands of Ukrainians living in territories occupied by russian propaganda and later by army.

Air alarm

The work Strong Foundation embodies unwavering spiritual strength and devotion to its values and cultural heritage. This collage emphasizes that even in the face of challenges and trials, the Ukrainian people remain a strong foundation on which the future is built and identity is maintained.

Ivan Svitlychny (1902-1933) was a Ukrainian poet and journalist. He was famous for his profound literary legacy and wrote poems. He actively supported Ukrainian culture during the Soviet regime and became a symbol of resistance. He died in the gulag because of his commitment to an independent Ukraine and criticism of authoritarianism. A feeling of realizing what has changed me as a person since the war started. I feel like I am a different person now. All the dreams and plans I had before the war no more exist, they are dead.

The design concept is made in the style of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – pixel, in which the national embroidered ornament and the building of Kharkiv Gosprom, as a symbol of Kharkiv, are intertwined. The composition emphasizes the main style of Kharkiv – constructivism.

The identity design for Marisa Ferreira Studio encapsulates the essence of the artist’s interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach while embracing the central themes that drive her creative journey. This visually captivating representation mirrors Ferreira’s exploration of materiality, memory, colonialism, displacement, social justice, and urban regeneration, as well as her profound focus on abandoned architectural structures as gateways to understanding our collective past.
