Where are you?
I have pain because of this war and my own losses. Losses on which I reflect and try to understand how to continue living. I’m trying to figure out what will help me be strong now.
To have harmony within. I have been working with Barbie since 2020. However, I have now focused on portraits of dolls in landscapes. After all, nature is life, which moves in a circle from birth to death and vice versa.
ANGEL
The artwork is a digital collage of photo fragments of Astian Rey’s physical sculpture from shell casings and exists as an NFT.
While creating the work, Astian decided to draw an analogy with the Guardian Angel, who is embodied in the form of a weapon with which brave fighters defend Ukraine.
The rising sun symbolizes the new peaceful life that will come after victory.

«SACRED SYMBOLS»
Artworks from the «SACRED SYMBOLS» series are created based on the author’s traditional sculptures and exist in NFT format. Astian Rey experiments with the method of digital collage and the construction of symmetry, using various fragments of sculptures taken from his own photographic archive.
During these experiments, unpredictable and spontaneous symbols are born, referring us to medieval sacred art.

The tiger is a symbol of 2022, and also a symbol of the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people. A spark of invincibility and strength flickers in its eyes.
«ALCHEMY CLOTHING»
The concept of clothes is to combine sacred symbols and stylistics of medieval manuscripts with brutal work clothes for electric welding and metal turning. This combination reflects author’s view on religious contradictions and the search for mental balance, which a person strives to achieve, despite a rather difficult life experience.

Refugees from war are people fleeing from death. They are uprooted from their native land. They are forced to fly to save their lives and their children. To preserve your roots and wings is to preserve your past and future.

Often my works are situational reflections that I make very quickly, thus transforming everyday events. The issues raised in the works are focused on the topic of human memory and memories. The goal is to draw the viewer’s attention to existing questions and problems, to encourage reflection.

Poster for the exhibition in Odesa dedicated to Ukrainian poetry. The visual style was inspired by the works of the prominent Ukrainian graphic artist Jacques Hnizdovsky. Slab serif typeface is a custom font called Expromt, which is also inspired by Ukrainian heritage. Poetry by Serhiy Zhadan.
Do what you gotta do
The poster with a quote by Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan which starts with the words “Do what you gotta do” and ends with the words “Trees will never really grow without gardeners”, with hand-drawn and scanned tree on the background and with the custom font called Gart Mono for the poetry text.
UKRAINIAN LETTERS (temporary) MUSEUM
UKRAINIAN LETTERS (temporary) MUSEUM presented 33 works of art, namely 33 letters of the Ukrainian alphabet, and was exhibited in Weimar, Germany and New York City.
These are revivals and interpretations of the works of 33 prominent Ukrainian graphic artists. The letters were found on old book covers and other printed materials created from 1917, the time of the Ukrainian National Republic, to the present day of Independent Ukraine.

Hordyi is a ukrainian display font
The Hordyi font was created based on the covers of the Ukrainian graphic designer Svyatoslav Hordynskyi. Who worked in the 20s of the last century. The influence of German constructivism is also felt in his work.
The Hordyi font is a modern reinterpretation of Hordynsky glyphs. The inspiration came from the software code forms of the 1980s. The shapes of the letters are so universal that they formed the basis of the icons (man, horse and dog), which turned into a system of arrows.
Nation of the year
Through the play of shadows, we unveil the transformative journey of an artist turned president like Zelensky. We, as performers and Ukrainian citizens, cast our collective silhouette, embodying not just the physical likeness but also the spirit of solidarity that stands steadfastly behind him in our nation’s narrative.
Torture of culture
The work shows the struggle between Ukraine, which is creating its own history and culture, and russia, which is trying to break all the achievements of the other country and rewrite events in its own way. The center of the composition depicts the Kosiv painting, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as a Ukrainian treasure that is under attack.
