The letters Ї are a symbol of the uniqueness of the Ukrainian language. The word Ukraїne is impossible without it. In Soviet times, they tried to ban it, but now those who wanted to destroy it are afraid. Borsch is a symbol of Ukrainian culture. This is one of the most famous dishes in the world. The invaders wanted to appropriate it for themselves, because “you are ours, and everything that is yours is ours.”
Persistent as a sunflower
The sunflower is a symbol of stability, prosperity, strength and the Motherland. A wound on the heart symbolizes the pain we experience and with which we choose independence.
Militancy
Illustration “Militancy” about the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people. The work shows symbols that stretch from ancient times and folklore of the Ukrainian people. The rooster is a symbol of the militancy of Ukraine, as well as a symbol of the protection of housing from robbers, currently from the invaders who want to take our land, and the Cossack mace only strengthens the courage of our defenders and Ukraine.
Crowned
This artwork say a lot with it details. Author feel like a lonely warrior on the battlefield. She’s wearing a heavy armor what makes us think she has some heavy burden. Another details shows that she’s burdened are birds and hands. We see a lot of aggressive black crows around her head like some illustration of overthinking. White crow she holding on her hand mean she feels weird and another in this world what probably prompts her to wear all that armor and sword.

“Ukrainian Madonna” is the personification of all mothers who had to hide in bomb shelters with their children. The illustration was made from a photo of a real girl nursing a baby in the Kyiv metro. For a long time this work was in the temple of Naples, near which the priests conducted services in support of Ukraine

Alona started to create these patterns during the period of life when her life changed a lot. She picked up a brush and looked for an outlet for emotions, thoughts. Alona wanted to create rather than show pain, there was enough of it around. So she was looking for a foothold, the creation of this series is very meaningful to her. Who’s gonna live / Who will be cornered
This work is a tribute to a popular ukrainian metal band called TOL from 00’s. A phrase (translated) is a chorus from an iconic song “Самознищення” (Self Destruction). A rhetorical question of the song acquired a new meaning today. The frontman of the group (Vasyl Pereverzev) is on the frontline right now fighting for our freedom.
