‘When Clouds Appear in a Clear Sky’ explores the poetic relationship between sky, cloud, and human perception through the landscape of Seoul. Observed above the city’s layered skyline, drifting clouds become quiet subjects of contemplation—revealing changing light, fleeting emotion, and subtle rhythms of nature within urban life. Through this gaze, the work reflects on inner stillness, unconscious values, and the gentle comfort nature quietly offers to the soul.

This is the ‘Playing Cards’ collective series by Masterplan Studio. Using black-and-white photography to embody our aesthetic, we incorporated our unique illustrations into the design. *This is a self-initiated project developed by Masterplan Studio for our own branding.

It reconsiders the act of “seeing” at the boundary of sight and touch, and more broadly, at the threshold of the senses. Visible letters, touchable letters, audible letters — the senses remain open to one another, continuously connected.

This project visualizes a reference relay conducted in a Visual Design Theory class. Each student selected ten references reflecting their interests and explained the relationships between them. Using library and online resources, participants gathered materials within 15 minutes and presented their connections in 3 minutes. The resulting “Collective Bibliography” was visualized as a single, continuously circulating structure of knowledge.

Rainbow Shadow Chaser explores melancholy, the defining sentiment of Seoul—a dynamic city where speed and convenience coexist with irrationality and disorder. The exhibition closely examines the intricate and multifaceted landscapes of those who navigate life within the city.

This is the ‘Masterplan The Architectural Robot.’ It was created by focusing on our signature geometry, mechanical components, wit, and architectural beauty. By reinterpreting existing robot toys, it transforms from architecture when folded to a robot when unfolded. This is the front view of the folded state.

Each track becomes a coordinate, revealing fragments that compose the boy. As the listener turns the pages of the album, they wander through the narrator’s memories—like sailing, or drifting. The recurring square motif visualizes the fragmented imagery inherent in the word ‘pieces.’

small mess extends P.S. 1 by reworking residual elements from its risograph production. Margins, ink variations, and unintended compositions are cut, collected, and reassembled into new pages. Without adding content, it reframes what is typically discarded as primary material. Through this iterative process, the work shifts attention to the conditions of making as a generative structure.
