Madonnas of Hutsul region

This poster was created as part of the Yellow&Blue project by Pictoric, an association of Ukrainian illustrators, for a series dedicated to different regions of Ukraine. The Hutsul region in the West of Ukraine is known for its many traditional chapels depicting the Virgin Mary or Jesus Christ. They are a great example of vernacular art, as people create the décor from small figurines, plastic flowers and candles.

Home

The deep connection to your home and your land can come quite unexpectedly. You can call yourself a cosmopolitan as many times, as you’d like to. But when someone comes to ruin your house, you quickly recollect in your memory that this particular house is yours.

The Sprouts

Ukraine is one of the largest grain suppliers to the world markets. The way our agrarians cultivated and harvested the fields under shelling, impressed the world. I’m still stunned with this too, as well as with how people who grow different crops in their own gardens, share food with the others, and maintain a close connection with their land.

Cortisol Poster

This poster is a creative expression of the author’s feelings. This is what it feels like to sit every night in the hallway and listen to missiles or Shahed flying. At some point, there is so much cortisol that it becomes poison and starts to eat up from the inside.

chaos is the destruction, and that is the source

My main reflection of the year is that those emotional states I find myself in, what I transmit, can exist. I blamed myself for being able to do something only personal, due to my own mental wars and emotional battles, thinking that nobody needs it, only me. Where’s the meaning in that? But it can be. My destruction, this chaos, can be a source, not just destruction.

Rivne Font

Rivne font is inspired by Ukrainian grocery signs and lettering and labels from the beer factory Bergsloss, which was standing in the early XX century in the west of Ukraine. Depending on time, all the signs and labels were changing, but some of them were kept and inspired me to create some rhyme of Ukrainian art deco. Ultrabold and ultrawide Rivne font is perfect for working with big titles and posters but also has a very saturated low character letters charisma.

«Blood brothers, I was patched up! Hold the ranks! » (Побратими, мене підлатали! Тримаємо стрій!)

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a counteroffensive. The sirens of ambulances in Zaporizhzhya are sounding more and more often. Such is the price of liberation…
Responsibility and honor.
If not us, then who…
We are alive, therefore, we are in line.
Men and angels free their land from the enemy. No one has the right to kill our relatives. Enemy, know that you will pay for every tear of our children.

Trembita typeface

Trembita — is a display typeface that has no curves. A bit clumsy and restless but remains warm and friendly. Inspired by carved words on trees in the carpathian woods. Typeface is named after “trembita” — an alpine horn which is common among Ukrainian highlanders Hutsuls who live in western Ukraine.

Save Azovstal

This collage was made after the Kalush Orchestra’s performance at Eurovision 2022. Pink panama is the last hope for salvation. Periwinkle is the most important symbol of life, the immortality of the human soul, a talisman against evil. Violets are a symbol of longing for the dead.

Flame of Resistance

Postmodernism recognizes that media, technology, and simulations influence much of contemporary life. This can lead to a sense of disconnection from reality and blurring the line between the real and the simulated. Individuals must find their self-identity if they want to resist – the enemy, time or even their own weakness.

Consequences. Kakhovska Dam

On 6th of June russian occupants blowed the dam and caused massive technogenic, ecological and humanitarian catastrophe for the whole south region of Ukraine. Lots of villages and cities were flooded, people were left with no home, property, sometimes even unable to save their pets and valueble items.
This is what ukrainians face each day of the war.
