Präsentiert im Rahmen der 13. Session des Salons der Kunst Apotheke ( … a think tank protocol for cultural workers, where artists, curators, researchers, and cultural operators come together to exchange constructive feedback about their own practices … Curator I-Wei Li) am Internationalen Frauentag, war Bronwen Parker-Rhodes erstes Buch »At Home« (… At Home offers a glimpse behind the bedroom doors of girls who strip), eigentlich nur Teil ihrer Präsentation, die aus Projektionen ihrer Kurzfilme (z.B. Lark – 2006 – The intimate portrait of a philosophy student and stripper.)
und Photos bestand. Bronwen nahm via Skype auch am folgenden Q & A teil. Das bewegte Bild scheint auch eher Ausgangspunkt ihrer Porträts und Momentaufnahmen zu sein, die sie aus Respekt und Bewunderung für ihre Darstellerinnen erstellte.
Counterpart waren die ausgestellten Fotos aus der Arbeit »Entspiegelung« von Giovanna Schulte-Ontrop, schon einmal auf Slanted (http://www.slanted.de/eintrag/entspiegelung-giovanna-schulte-ontrop) präsentiert. Schulte-Ontrops Inszenierungen scheinen dann auch eher dem klassischen Tafelbild verwandt, mit kunstgeschichtlichen Konnotationen, wenn sich ihre männlichen Modelle in eher ruhende Posen begeben, in denen sie bei sich selbst sind.
Beiden Arbeiten gemeinsam war, wie sich in der folgenden Diskussion auch herausstellte, dann schon eher das im Titel enthaltene »At Home« und der Fokus auf den menschlichen Körper und ein hochkomplexes Thema … how can we move beyond the discourse of "a battle of the sexes"?
