Poster for the exhibition in Odesa dedicated to Ukrainian poetry. The visual style was inspired by the works of the prominent Ukrainian graphic artist Jacques Hnizdovsky. Slab serif typeface is a custom font called Expromt, which is also inspired by Ukrainian heritage. Poetry by Serhiy Zhadan.

UKRAINIAN LETTERS (temporary) MUSEUM presented 33 works of art, namely 33 letters of the Ukrainian alphabet, and was exhibited in Weimar, Germany and New York City.

These are revivals and interpretations of the works of 33 prominent Ukrainian graphic artists. The letters were found on old book covers and other printed materials created from 1917, the time of the Ukrainian National Republic, to the present day of Independent Ukraine.

The Hordyi font was created based on the covers of the Ukrainian graphic designer Svyatoslav Hordynskyi. Who worked in the 20s of the last century. The influence of German constructivism is also felt in his work.
The Hordyi font is a modern reinterpretation of Hordynsky glyphs. The inspiration came from the software code forms of the 1980s. The shapes of the letters are so universal that they formed the basis of the icons (man, horse and dog), which turned into a system of arrows.

Through the play of shadows, we unveil the transformative journey of an artist turned president like Zelensky. We, as performers and Ukrainian citizens, cast our collective silhouette, embodying not just the physical likeness but also the spirit of solidarity that stands steadfastly behind him in our nation’s narrative.

The work shows the struggle between Ukraine, which is creating its own history and culture, and russia, which is trying to break all the achievements of the other country and rewrite events in its own way. The center of the composition depicts the Kosiv painting, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as a Ukrainian treasure that is under attack.

Modern Thinker is a modern interpretation of Auguste Rodin’s sculpture “The Thinker”

The illustration was drawn when the author moved abroad because of the war started by Russia, and her family stayed in Ukraine. Every day she spent more than 5 hours on the phone, following every news item, hoping that her loved ones were safe.

The poster is dedicated to the parents who lost their children because of Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

There’s only one way to rest on the battlefield.

I took photographs in the Kyiv region after a full-scale Russian offensive in 2022. These photographs are a visual dialogue with the drawings of artist and Bauhaus teacher Lionel Feininger. Lionel painted them during the First World War. Reality in his works is based not on the depiction of observed impressions, but on the transformation of perceptions into spatial and plastic, multidimensional structures.

During the Russian occupation of the city of Irpen, soldiers on the Alley of Heroes shoot away portraits of fallen soldiers in the East of Ukraine. The Russians were aiming at the memory of the Ukrainians. Memory is not material, it cannot be destroyed.
Punched cards are the first storage devices of the 20th century.

This bird represents Ukraine: unbroken, elegant and beautiful, flying forward, with disconnected parts that still belong to it.

This book tells 50 stories. Each of them touched the whole country of Ukraine. Some boosted morale, others provided entertainment even in the toughest days. Many shocked the whole world with their tragedy. Ukraine: 50 symbols of resistance takes a close look at the important images, events, personalities, and even memes that emerged from this war. The book was published in Ukrainian and English with 50 unique illustrations by Mari Kinovych. All money from sales goes to charity.

The most difficult period since the beginning of the full-scale invasion was to leave my hometown. Many of my fellow citizens are experiencing this now, and it hurts us. These illustrations are the iconic places of my home, which for me, for the residents of Kharkiv and all Ukrainians become symbols of the invincibility of our country. Kharkiv, I love you infinitely, you are my heart and soul.

Our collection was dedicated to the historical and ethnographic regions of Ukraine — from East to West, from South to North. In this collection, we celebrate the landscapes and the uniqueness of our country. All sweaters were sold at charity auctions, and their design gave a start to other collections — of scarves and blankets.

The one measure of true love is: you can insult the other.

When we walk with our own feet but are guided by someone else’s will – we become a fish on the hook.

Drawing for me is freedom of expression. Nothing extra – no bunch of materials, tools, frames and paints – just a pen, paper and you. Anywhere and anytime. In drawing, I can go with the flow, putting aside the planning and preparatory work. It’s like singing, only with your hands.
