Indigo Poems

Indigo Poems is a zine and poetry collection written by Meg Costa. The use of highlight, gradient and text color aims to invoke feelings of nostalgia, melancholy, hope and tranquility in the reader. This zine attempts to convey complex emotion through a mixture of color, symbolism and descriptive poetry. Each poem is bursting with color and meaning, asking the viewer to encapsulate themselves in the visual world of a poet, where emotion and color are often intertwined.

Bittersweet

The beauty of life needs the pain as a point of reference. It would be truly boring and routine if we are only happy for a long period of time. We will need a next level of happiness for been happy again. The pain is like the salt a dessert needs to taste sweeter. The rainbow colours palette contrasts with the situation that the illustration describes. To enjoy the fullness of life we should learn how to deal with its bad faces with optimism and balance.

Restart – Montreux Jazz Festival (Proposal)

The poster lists things I connect to previous and hopefully further Montreux Jazz Festivals. Its unusual, but beautiful colour-palette and the use of those classic fonts with a modern twist, are an approach to reflect on one hand the diversity of sounds that are played at the festival. On the other hand it should be a contrast to the dull and monotonous white walls we were bound to. Much more the viewer should get the feeling of a busy festival, beautiful sunsets and a great lakeside 1080.

CRB4085900

This poster represents vectorial illustrations of the iconic ring Panthere from Cartier. I wanted to represent the different colors of gold according to the light and the state of mind. It shows power, wealth and beauty. The symbolism is different according to the colors. It doesn’t feel the same. Some panthere looks cold, as a pride cold beauty. Some looks warm, nice, priceless as the gold and attractive. I like playing with one element but with different contrasts and saturation for let the viewer feel the poster with emotions, feelings. It’s unique from one person to an other.

TYPEONE Magazine Issue 02

The TYPEONE Magazine Issue 02 – The Kinetic Type issue is now available at Slanted Shop!

Kinetic (moving) type has seen an abundance of exponential growth in the last 50 years as the possibilities of matching text and motion has grown in direct correlation to the equally exponential, if not more so, developments in technology. Having manifested itself and created a solid home in our design industry, in TYPEONE Magazine Issue 02, the editors explore the methods, the logic, and the creatives behind this exciting niche using QR code technology to translate static content to moving imagery.

Lenticular Cover
To illustrate an illusion of motion, TYPEONE incorporated a very special lenticular printed cover designed by Hamburg-based artist Gydient. Simply angle the cover from left to right to watch the number two untwist—Implemented with QR code technology to translate static content to moving imagery

cultique x higgs preroll box

I was asked to design the front of a small box ( 2” W x 3.5” L) of six
hemp pre-rolls.
The company cultique.co, in collaboration with Higgs, wanted something
else than their logo, so I created a colorful layered version of the name
using typography and vibrant colors. The art work had to work on the small box and a limited edition printed poster (13″ w x 18″ h).

Glitched

This piece of work is an experimental accident. A tiny piece of a glitch, dead pixels which are compressed to a color explosion simply screenshotted. By accident this error was deeply fascinating because of its colorfulness in the smallest place: A glitch. Endless possibilities are made possible through the scaling.

merge

The poster “merge” celebrates the fact that we live in an era where everything appears to fuse and where boundaries of the past are obsolete. What is gender? What is race? What are genres? What are borders? Those are all theoretical concepts and have nothing to do with reality and we should be happy of getting aware of that, finally.

Agatha Christie’s Collection

Visual identity made for Agatha Christie’s books, with the goal of serving a captive audience but also draw in new readers to her work. This on going project started in 2020 with 10 books, expanding 10 more each year.

An organic hand lettering making contrast with studio photos, where a key object is the central point of the subject. The intention of this collection is to give unity, but also be flexible to a single cover work by itself.

DARE TO BE COLOURFUL

Some of the most culturally influential artists of the past century have been the source of inspiration for this colour experiment. I started out by manually illustrating the most famous portrait of the respective artist on my iPad; then I transformed every line into a square and gave them different colours. The result are squeaking colour patterns yielding in abstract, form-libre versions of the initial picture – a chaotic tribute to the colourfulness of the artist himself.

DIVER-ASIT-Y

My forever ongoing design project ASIT has always been a place where boldness and eccentricity are free to roam. It’s a warm home to all the wonderful quirks that make us human. This endearing crowd is a reminder that everybody is different – and that’s what makes life full of colour. DIVER-ASIT-Y.

YOUNG ROMANS

I have this thing with huge empty walls; to me they are like a massive blank canvas waiting to be transformed into a piece of art. One of my recent projects – „Young Romans“ (a series of portraits of people I know and love) – would lend itself especially well to such an endeavour, if I may say so. Original: oil crayon on cartridge paper, 321 x 455 mm.

POLYFLOWERS

We suffocate in plastic waste. And too much of it ends up in the sea.Microplastics are a deadly danger for fish, marine mammals and seabirds. Because conventional plastics such as PET are not biodegradable. In contrast, flowering plants are part of the natural material cycle. They grow, blossom, wither, are at some point biologically decomposed by microorganisms and serve as the basic material for the creation of new life. Polyflowers is a photographic project that deals with these contrasts. Above all it is about the contrast between the natural and the synthetic color spectrum:flowers in plastic bottles, nature in polymers.Through colorblocking, plastic and nature are juxtaposed in their colors.
