205TF
Launched in 2017, its catalog has more than 40 typefaces and includes experienced type designers as well as young ones whom 205TF support for their first typeface. 205TF aims to be a virtuous platform when digital typography is sometimes seen as a consumable whose cost must always be reduced.
In its catalog, there are only original and quality typefaces; body as display ones; extended families and variable fonts for discerning users. 205TF makes the choice of a demanding selection to be an alternative to broadcasting platforms where the user no longer knows what to choose.
Typefaces by 205TF
Garaje by Thomas Huot-Marchand takes its inspiration both from the alphabets of the Bauhaus school and the vernacular inscriptions of Spanish garage owners.
Clifton by Yoann Minet is a reinterpretation of the Athenian typeface that was distributed around 1896 by the British Type Foundry.
Thelo by Tassiana Nunez-Costa, a serif type designed for print and screen, in Micro, Text, and Display versions.

Nouruz-e Naft
Norouz-e Naft combines Norouz, the celebration of the New Year in Iranian calender, with Rouz-e Naft – the Day of Oil, that refers to an important historic event: When Iran’s Prime Minister Mossadegh nationalised oil on the day before Norouz in 1951 and, in doing so, revoked access from the british company „Anglo Persian Oil-Company“.

Reminiscences of the playground
As the first point of contact not only with peers but also with bright colours, the playground shapes our perception of colourfulness from an early age. This inspires us (consciously or subconsciously) forever.
The squeaky red climbing frames, the sand (which I liked to have crunching between my teeth), the giddy feeling of the slides and swings, the deep blue of the sky.
Spielplatz, I MISS YOU.
More
This work was commissioned for the British musician Paul Weller and was released as a limited edition screen print. As a long time fan of Paul Weller’s music it was exciting to be able to visually respond to his song ‘More’ . The lyrics talk about ‘pushing up into the sky’ and I wanted to capture the feeling of expansion and floating away on an aspiration. Instead of having a figure in the illustration I used the letters of the word More make a face that is drifting away, framed by a pink sky and sunset, wanting more. The cautionary lyrics remind us that in floating away on our desires, eventually we need to come back down to reality again.

BLOOM
What inspired me with the series was no matter what we face in life, we have the opportunity to shape it and bloom from our past. Hoping that what we have dreamed soon will be revealed to our naked eye.
Summer Workshops 2021
With Summer Workshops 2021 the Visual Communication Institute / The Basel School of Design offers workshops for students, educators, and graphic designers. The workshops afford insight into topical themes in Visual Communication in a study program reflecting the rich tradition of the Basel School of Design. Practical exercises with a high level of professionalism form the core of the workshops focus. Reflection as well as contextual knowledge will be conveyed by way of input sessions, allowing participants’ work to be judged within a contemporary, future-oriented, context relevant to professional practice. The trinational Rhine river valley is a unique cultural environment with easy access to France and Germany, and to sites such as the Vitra Design Museum (G), the Isenheimer Alter (F) or Ronchamp (F). In Basel the Fondation Beyeler, Tinguely Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Schaulager, and the Museum of Contemporary Art are world renown. Besides its museums Basel offers a rich mixture of cultural events.
Every week of the four week long event is another workshop, meaning you can attend four different workshops: Poster Design, lead by Leander Eisenmann, Inquiry by Design lead by Michael Renner, Type Design lead by Philipp Stamm, Algorithmic Design / P5 live lead by Ted Davis and Gregory Vines.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the workshops will take place under the FHNW Covid-19 protection concept. It will be decided in April 2021 whether the workshop will take place physically on campus in Basel or online in a distant learning format.

The European tectonic plates under Calanca meet the African plates like a sandwich, in geological terms this is called “CROCODILE JAW” In that way the crocodile became an animal totem… The head of Calanca Biennale with the enormous support of the stone quarry Alfredo Polti SA, will implement a giant solid stone sculpure crocodile shaped.
The brief called for the poster to contain the slogan “Help! I’m burning!” (In reference to climate change) and a crocodile.
