“We Earth Men have a talent for ruining big, beautiful things. The only reason we didn’t set up hot-dog stands in the midst of the Egyptian temple of Karnak is because it was out of the way and served no large commercial purpose.” Bradbury
An experiment is the destruction of existing boundaries for the sake of expanding opportunities. Experimentation leads to discovery. The new discoveries are being used for commerce and business. When morals get in the way of business, business changes morality
experitype
Photos taken randomly along the way served as a template for the letters of the Experitype. The aim was not to recognize individual letters in advance, but rather to consider how type could be created from them when looking through the images.
The typeface contains a total of 32 characters, with 2 variants per letter.
Experimental Type Development and Creation of the Ospali Font
This project’s primary objective is to conduct experiments promptly using readily available materials to achieve immediate results.
One aspect of the project involved creating a new experimental type called Ospali, derived from colored bath oil.

Bite me
Let me take you on a journey.
We peel away layers, like fragile onion skins, revealing the raw core beneath. Within vulnerability, as we shed old beliefs and patterns, each piece becomes a testament to our evolution. We learn that embracing every hue—light and shadow—is the only way to experience how light sneaks through the cracks in our wounds.

Type Made With CSS
While working on websites, Donald Roos started playing with CSS and HTML to create letters. One of his mantras is that limitations stimulate creativity. See what you can do with only HTML/CSS elements. The MeccanoType is his first whole alphabet (lower and upper case) made with HTML/CSS.
No More “Ching Chang Chong”
Anti Asian Hate & Microaggression
“Ching chong” and “ching chang chong” are racial slurs that ridicule Chinese or other East
Asian people. They are crude imitations of Chinese phonology. Since this word may hurt
some people, use other words when playing rock-paper-scissors.
Slanted Summer Party 2024
Last week we had our Slanted Summer Party, which at the same time was a celebration of our 10th anniversary of Slanted Publishers, and 20 years of Slanted as a blog—what a number!
It was a super nice and relaxed time with friends, family, creative people and design enthusiasts! We enjoyed a lot of nice and cool drinks, and had plenty of time to catch up and also to talk about our favorite topics: design, books, and typography. We are always delighted to open our workspace for everyone, fostering an atmosphere of creativity, inspiration, and exchange!
A thousand thanks to everyone who came and thank you all for your years of interest and support!
Fonts and Faces #10
Poster for a one-day symposium on character design and drawing machine, held at the Fonderie de l’Image Campus. The idea of the poster is to graphically express and explore the theme selected for the year of the symposium.
Neue Ductus Opposite
Type design workshop — 5 days at FH Aachen Gestaltung with 22 students — It all starts with the students writing with their opposite hand to produce a typographic hypothesis and ends with the “Neue Ductus Opposite” font.
Fonts and Faces #9
Poster for a one-day symposium on character design and the drawn gesture, held at the Fonderie de l’Image Campus. The idea of the poster is to graphically express and explore the theme selected for the year of the symposium.
LDZ (Łódź)
Władysław Strzemiński (whose name is referenced in the composition) was a prominent Polish avant-garde artist and educator in Łódź. He played a significant role in the development of modern art in Poland & was a key figure in the Constructivist movement. The city of Łódź is often affectionately referred to as LDZ by locals, thus the inspiration for the typographic tension between form and void.
THEY WANT US
HEY WANT US – a four piece ceramics poster made for the Typography class at the Royal Academy of fine Arts The Hague.
Each of the four ceramic tiles contains a fraction of a sentence from Karen Brodines poetry „Woman Sitting at the Machine, Thinking.“
The unexpacted typeface
An experimental artist from Rotterdam, known for her unique approach to graphic design and typography, she creates unexpected outcomes by examining the influence of materials on letters. Using only black and white, she focuses on the form and legibility of the letters. Her project features 26 different letters, each crafted from a different material, giving each one a unique shape and texture. This results in a dynamic visual experience that redefines the essence of typography.
Lot of Mistakes
The Lot of Mistakes poster is a bold exploration on typography. Through the skillful use of ink-like techniques, text transforms into a visual element, challenging conventions of legibility and composition. The background, obtained from scanning ink on paper, echoes the typographic theme. The work stands as a personal testing ground for new experiments. It is an invitation to find beauty in something raw and non-canonical.
AUTO
AUTO is short for automation. Automation is the current level of human evolution. Little robots do repetitive tasks in our daily lives.
The letters with arms and legs represent these little robots, letters living automats.
One Beer
There’s a saying in Hungarian: „Egy sör, nem sör”. Which translates to something like “One beer, no beer”.
The poster is a reflection on the theme of alcohol and the role it takes in our personal lives and Hungarian culture. I see this work as a definitive step in my personal path on conciously reflecting on, and reframing my relation with alcohol.
Made in relation to the community theatre play called 1,5 ezrelék in Örkény István Theatre, Budapest.
I Am The World’s Most Famous Designer
Typographic experiments on the world’s most absolute truth.
EAST
EAST is about speculative landscapes, the hauntology of AI-generated, reduced, reshaped images of my home. EAST refers to Eastern Europe, and the letters of the word build up from photos of my surroundings fed to AI. In an attempt at regaining control over these landsapes, I reshaped them into familiar letters which can be understood as an act of reclaiming the meaning of them in the face of the volatility of my memories.
Ips Typographus
The project presents a non-human perspective on typography: the featured text was found in the wild, and it was carefully created by Ips Typographus, an insect which got its latin name from its calligraphic approach to altering its environment.
Nike Retro
Experimental ink lettering made during INTL workshop.
Love and money
Experimental lettering made from deer horns.
