In a cross-cultural project, five students reused materials from Ulaanbaatar and Mainz. One of them transformed a banner designed for the previous end-of-semester exhibition into a waterproof bag. The typography of the banner formed the appearance of the bag, while minimal new accessories complemented the sturdy look and emphasised the project’s ethos of reuse and creativity.
Zement Eyes Shirts
Complex Pleasures has been taking care of the visual affairs of Neo-Kraut band Zement for some time now. For their 2023 tour, CP have created a typo-driven design for shirts and longsleeves, matching the band’s sometimes ironic take on contemporary Krautrock music, exploring new visual paths in the field of Rock music merchandising.
CP001 – Complex Product 001
Accompanying the launch of their new visual studio Complex Pleasures, Philipp Dittmar and Sabrina Zeltner started to release a series of products: the Complex Products – visually appealing and making life a little better. CP001 is warm and cosy: A merino bobble hat, coming in three color ways featuring a bold typo driven design.
Live From Earth x Michael Satter
The collection draws inspiration from slogans sprayed on walls during the 1968 Paris student revolts, critiquing societal structures. A word mark featuring the Arabic Live From Earth logo and the slogan “Le trois mai 1968 Université Paris-Sorbonne” was designed. Playfully distorted using a photocopier, it resulted in various versions. Attached images showcase this experimental process.

The Face
Research has found that facial expression differences between countries can lead to communication misunderstandings. “The Face” project examines the differences in facial expressions between the East and the West. I visualized the differences in facial expressions through typography and book design. And I used glossy mirror paper, pull-out pages and sulphate paper in the books to communicate the results more effectively. It provides a reference for people in cross-cultural communication.
Escaping my escapism
This scarf is the result of a positive escapist practice. During the project, the artist maintained the habit of practicing a meditative, mantralike technique every day, to cut down on the hours spent with negative escapist habits. At the end of the process, a real (wearable) typographic object has been made, however, the result is not more important than the process. The color of the yarn is changed every day, thus time spent with knitting is documented in the object itself.
Something is missing here.
Embroidery, like many techniques in textile arts, is about repeating the same set of motions over and over and over. In this project, the motions are perfectly repeated by the computer. Although this way, nothing is made. The missing thing is the labor itself and the human performing it.
Making my first zine took a lot of time
After years of design education, the artist finally made her first zine. To do this, she chose a time-consuming, monotonous technique, knitting. The pages of this zine show stages of the process and give a sense of the passage of the time spent knitting.
FuckFastFashion – Editorial Project
Today’s consumer society promotes a fast pace of life and a waste of resources. To enhance the importance of sustainability the multidisciplinary artist Youri Precht also known as C.REAL is devoted to the topic of “upcycling”.
The pages of his editorial project consist of 100% old fabrics.
His book is intended to serve as a catalog which inspires, stimulates ideas and shows examples of the possible techniques available to upcycle old clothes and fabric leftovers.
FuckFastFashion!
I am YOU
I am You is a new fashion statement. I am reflection of your taste, desires, insecurities, dreams and so much more. I am the mirror of your imagination. I am the before and afterthought.
Inside out
This garment encourages, to turn your inside out, basically to share feelings and thoughts we normally keep for ourselves.
The inside out theme should extend throughout the garment which is done in two ways:
The garment itself is turned inside out showing the inner seams.
Additionally, the hand-embroidered word “inside” is also turned vice versa. So the imperfect side with knots and loose threads points outwards.
It whoops: Show your beautiful mess!
Local Badass
The Local Badass range is born from a profound appreciation for local communities and their pivotal role in cultural evolution. It’s a tribute to the skaters of each locale, who collectively shape and preserve the roller skate culture. The logo, bold and dynamic, mirrors the spirit of the roller skating scene, with vibrant colors and strong typography. It reflects the energy, passion, and individuality of participants who find expression and connection through this culture.
“Vivid Dreams” Shirt
“Vivid Dreams” is a custom-made shirt that captures the essence of artistic expression and personal style. This garment features short sleeves and an all-over print, crafted from 100% viscose at 120 grams. The design highlights a captivating contrast between textured and distorted graphics, creating an engaging visual effect that aligns with the sleek, custom fit. This seamless fusion of patterns and materials elevates the shirt from a basic item to a unique and memorable fashion piece.
Proun Society
Proun Society is a virtual haute couture founded by Edwin Mohney. It breaks through limitations using AI to reinterpret fashion archives.
In this project, we integrated this approach into our design system by deconstructing and reassembling various languages strokes into novel visual symbols to create a fictional dictionary. This strategy aims to bridge communication gaps across disciplines, enriching the narrative with new layers.
Am I mad? No, God, I am free

scarf of scans
During her second semester of design studies, she collected various everyday objects and scanned them. The patterns were interesting, so she came up with the idea of designing a scarf. And that’s how this scarf came about. Because my friends and I liked it so much, I had it made. There are a few examples all over Germany. I’m always happy to wear it myself or see others wearing it. And if you look closely, you’ll see that the pattern is based on a scan of a screaming cat.
Book of life
The Project is fully explained in the PDF. On the 29th April, more pictures of the project will be made in a beautiful library in Zürich. I’m looking forward to sending you those pictures aswell.
Wilderness: Light Sizzles Around Me
In Wilderness: Light Sizzles Around Me, I seek to create a linguistic and visual weaving of 15 historical figures (1591-1980) and their unique relationships to the wilderness. Sojourner Truth was electrified and grounded by her Vision of the Universe when there was an attempt to take her child from her. She is a heroine sown inside America’s stain of slavery who escaped slavery and shaped herself into a leader, an abolitionist, a feminist, a speaker before thousands.
HELL HELL HELL / HEAVEN HEAVEN HEAVEN : Encountering Sister Gertrude Morgan and Revelation
This installation is the story of Dill’s encounter with Sister Gertrude and the Book of Revelations. Sister Gertrude Morgan was a preacher, artist, musician and poet who worked in New Orleans in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Morgan was primarily noted for her folk art. She had a vision that she was to commit her life to Christ, and she was to wear only white as she was now the Bride of Jesus. Brightly colored fabric words, Glory, Power, Revelation, etc. are hand sewn onto the white dress.
HELL HELL HELL / HEAVEN HEAVEN HEAVEN : Encountering Sister Gertrude Morgan and Revelation
This dress is part of the story of Dill’s encounter with Sister Gertrude and the Book of Revelations. Sister Gertrude Morgan was a preacher, artist, musician and poet who worked in New Orleans in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Morgan was primarily noted for her folk art. The black dress references Sister Gertrude’s years teaching in the orphanage and what she wore. The words Heaven & Hell in red and white hand sewn letters are the only words on this dress.
Faith & the Devil – Big Gal Faith
Big Gal Faith, is the central figure in Faith & the Devil, a large-scale installation which investigates the philosophical and existential conundrums of evil and underlying faith in the world. Her wild word hair and lavish twenty-six foot wide dress of drawn images and words express the main themes of the exhibit: cruelty and violence, lust, forgiveness, reflection, and transcendence.
Eye To Eye
For this project I researched Ukrainian work produced during previous times of war. To ensure my design communicated, I wanted to combine elements of Ukrainian ethnicity and national tradition with motifs associated with current mass market design.
This is my personal contribution to the struggle for the freedom of my country.
Part of Words Clothes Expression project.
