Urban Geometry

Kapitza present their vision of the city as a jubilant place bursting with colour, form and pattern, and where its buildings are vibrant three-dimensional geometric shapes. Imagine walking around and losing yourself amongst the colourful architecture, and discovering a vivid urban landscape full of surprise and inspiration.

Visual Identity GEGENWARTEN | PRESENCES

GEGENWARTEN | PRESENCES was a public space exhibition taking place at various locations around Chemnitz. On display were projects by 20 artists and collectives whose site-specific works – interventions and sculptures, installations and performances – deal with social, political and urban issues of the city of Chemnitz. Art in public space can contribute to discovering hidden qualities in a city, pointing out commonalities, linking them synergetically and thus telling both forgotten and new stories. The visual identity we created for the festival underlines this approach of making new qualities visible and tangible, by suggesting different visions of the city in abstract, colourful collages.

KSB Magazin #33

Twice a year the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) publishes a magazine in size of a newspaper. Each issue focuses on one topic, this time it was: Digital nodes. Digitalisation is changing the art world, art production and art reception. For issue #33 published we designed a magazine using an app to reveal and explore the interfaces connecting analogue and digital space. With the help of augmented reality (AR) technology, we pushed the boundaries of the magazine into the digital realm.

Milomani

What is the colour of a memory? When I asked myself this question, Milomani began to take shape in my mind. I like the idea that this figure was created from all the good memories in the universe. It makes me happy to look at him. I imagine that his facets are constantly changing, just as I suppose the memories in the universe are always changing.

Visual Identity Cinémathèque Leipzig

Cinémathèque is a small art-house cinema in Leipzig. It shows current films in original language with subtitles, curated film programs and experimental formats – accompanied by film talks, discussions, lectures and exhibitions. Last year we designed a visual identity which includes business cards, posters, a printed monthly programme, social media templates and a website relaunch. The concise and colourful design creates visibility in the city and beyond. The appearance bundles the diverse venues and the website in particular provides clear access to the programme and events.

SEPT

Seventh anniversary of chouchou Boutique in Heilbronn, Germany – a small French fashion
boutique with jewelry atelier. I designed and hand printed a limited silkscreen poster (70 x 100 cm) for sale at birthday bash. In addition, there were hand silkprinted cotton bags and
t-shirts with this motif.

Composition with noise IV

The series “Composition with noise” expresses the intricate relationship between the rule-based nature of art making and algorithmic beauty of nature.

The instruction has been created and implemented it in the code to produce a generative system capable of creating potentially infinite amounts of paintings. The instruction was this:

1. Pick two colors aesthetically compatible with each other;

2. Paint a grid of randomly rotated rectangles with an applied noise algorithm.

Visual identity for the exhibition “Art Nouveau Revival” at Musée d’Orsay

Arp is Arp includes on the poster of the exhibition “Art Nouveau Revival” a painting that Georges de Feure made in 1900 to announce the “Art Nouveau Bing” fair. More than a century later, his painting thus regains its function, to announce a new exhibition on Art Nouveau !
The scenography being made as uncluttered as possible, in a party room very rich in eclectic decorations from the 19th century. Arp is Arp suggests removing all the exhibitions cartels and integrating their content into a visit guide, a sort of treasure map given to visitors, who can find the texts thanks to simple letters pasted around the artworks and found in the edition.

The Joy Is In You

‘The Joy Is In You’ is an artwork I created to cheer people up and brighten their day when they see it.
Since the pandemic started, we’ve been deprived of so many things that usually bring us joy, it can often feel like joy has become a luxury. I wanted this artwork to be a reminder that joy can also come from within. You just need to dig deeper within yourself to manifest it.

Symposium – Editorial Design Now

This poster has been created as an announcement for a symposium called “Editorial Design Now“, that was meant to happen in February 2020 at the ABK Stuttgart originally but got postponed to October 2020 as a virtual symposium. It featured national and international guests, such as Julia Kahl, Carol Montpart, Franziska Morlok, Michelle Phillips, Malin Schulz and Isabel Seiffert. The poster adresses what editorial design is about nowadays, if it’s still mainly for printed matter or evolves into digital space and use. So the poster motive displays just a short moment of a basic and simple modular grid or information system in constant move with popping display colours.

Ken Ishii: Tilt Anomaly

Metodiq Records is an independent label specialized in Techno music.
They needed a rebranding for their new releases and asked for something fresh and provocative.

This cover illustrates Ken Ishii’s “Tilt Anomaly” EP, a futuristic disaster on the dancefloor. Humans are gliding in lights and colors, and the underground becomes as vast as the cosmos.

Los súper-carteles de Studio Mut

This poster is part of the development of the visual identity of the exhibition “Los súper-carteles de Studio Mut”, as part of the events of the MADRIDGRAFICA design festival.
The visual identity of this exhibition is based on the deconstruction of Studio Mut’s posters made abstract by highlighting only the basic geometric shapes.
The use of only two predominant electric and powerful colours has accentuated the minimalist concept developed for this project.

MAAE · Change is a Process

Metodiq Records is an independent label specialized in Techno music.
They needed a rebranding for their new releases and asked for something fresh and provocative.

This cover illustrates MAAE’s “Change Is A Process” EP, an energetic chaotic, yet perfectly rhythmic music, a riot that bursts unexpectedly.
