Sieben Wochen / Woche 6

Viewed from different perspectives my series “Sieben Wochen” fits perfectly to the topic Coexist:

My photographic work shows my identical twin sister and me during our quarantine of seven weeks.
We coexist since the beginning of our lives, started with the splitting of the egg cell. On the other hand we coexisted, at the same time, in the same place, night and day during quarantine.

For my project I took 7 photographs in 7 weeks. Every photo represents one week and the feelings we went threw during this period of time. To make them clear I added a few words about the previous days.

Unfortunately I can only show you four photographs, but here is the link to the whole series on my website

eyes of the night coexist

these eyes of the night consist of different forms, moods and histories – revealing different perspectives. yet they all coexist peacefully at night in their assigned locations, sharing a common quiet street from different angles, gleaming in lantern light. they observe us wandering and accompany us through the night without judgment or fear.

multilayered

Well, sometimes, it’s not always easy. May it be minor issues or large scale problems. We’re living in a multilayered, complex and eclectic world. Be selfless. Help out. Show empathy. Make life better everyday. Step by step. Coexist.

Ambiguitätstoleranz

As a society, we need to tolerate different concepts of life. There is no blueprint to it. A necessary skill for us to coexist in peace is ambiguity tolerance. Accept and tolerate each one’s indifferences, especially if they do not resemble one’s own. There is no right way, and that’s the beauty of it.

NOBODY’S NOBODY

Using a combination of organic and strict geometric visuals, as well as a duality between abstract and planned elements, this painting is about exploring the meaning of “human” life in our current era, how to coexist on earth, and the impact of new technologies.
Being in control and losing control is used as a metaphorical representation of the uncontrolable side of organic elements in opposition to the human need of mastering “life”.
Order in chaos, technological nature.

1. Co-existence. 2. Earth 2.0 Briefing.

1. This picture is about the ability to coexist happily in the closed space. It was inspired by the Soviet game of Tetris and the long-term tradition of living in communal apartments in Russia.
2. This illustration is about how the briefing for the Earth’s reboot would look like. Probably we could learn from this sneak peek into the future, so we won’t have to reboot it at the first place…

Mixtype

During my Master studies I worked out a theoretical analysis of globalization, transculturality and the role designers play in this context. After doing detailed research about Arabic and Asian graphic design and the use of Arabic and Chinese script, I found a way to integrate the opposite reading direction into the layout without treating one of them preferentially. I applied this approach to a fictional multilingual design magazine about experimental type and graphics from all over the world, combining Chinese, Arabic and Latin writing systems. In this example I’ve put the essay “Typopractica” by Eran Bacharach from Slanted Babylon into the mentioned layout concept.

The Passport Experiment

I try to contact one person of each nation in the world. I ask for a scan of their passport to collect the tiny ornaments of the different document’s paper. Ornaments are transmitters of cultural identity: I will transfer them onto ceramic tiles, creating a floor mosaic to walk on it like the world was flat. The message is simple: #weareone #weareequal but beautifully different on the surface. Initiated in 2016 the project got in touch with people of more than 60 nations and motivated participants to connect with their friends around the world. The fascination for colorful ornaments is shared by many, no matter what their cultural background.

why so sad buster?

How will the world be? How will we spend our days together, how is work going to be? How will we live with so many people on one small planet? Our lives have evolved around the infinite internet and our devices so much I wanna cry. Sometimes I wish, we wouldn’t have to want Buster Keatons times back. Sometimes we still need a sad buster, who busts away all the sadness in chatting with us. And sometimes I am Buster for my crew and myself. A strong name, but still sad — why? Let’s ask him, maybe he knows even more! After all, he might be the One …

Austurland

The photo was taken at a farm in Austurland, the eastern region of Iceland. Does wildlife expand into areas of human activity or is it us, who expand into their natural habitat? How can humans and animals coexist in a more ethical way?

We are bond to coexist

We are all fingers of the one hand. And so, we are bound together and bond to coexist. 5 fingers, 5 continents and everything contained within are connected to the last particle. It’s a powerful thought. A powerful force if used right. In the light of the unacceptable recent events, this statement needs more attention than ever. There may be a day when all sorts of injustice are obsolete. We may not see it in our lifetime, but we need to plant the seed. Small individual actions can make a difference. If we all jump at the same time, we can shake the earth.
