coexist_blob
The Physarum polycephalum (also known as blob) is an intelligent slime-mold. It can solve puzzles or memorize things. It communicates and fuses together with other individuals. Together they profit from shared memories, they are faster and bigger. They coexist in peace and profit from each other.

Slanted × Kickstarter Mentoring & Publishing Program: Nine Selected Book Projects Now Live
The first Open Call for the Mentoring & Publishing Program of Slanted and the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter closed at the end of April. From almost 100 submitted projects, we have intensively supervised nine projects in one-to-one mentoring-sessions over the past four weeks on their way to a hopefully successful crowdfunding campaign and thus to a real publishing project.
We are very happy to be able to present the individual projects to you now and hope that you will support one, two or maybe all of them! Meet the participants of the Slanted × Kickstarter Mentoring & Publishing Program:

River of Language
Language is at the intersection of culture and diversity. It is fluid, adaptable and ever-evolving. The artwork combines and integrates the letter ‘M’ from multiple languages/scripts coming together as an abstract pictographic mark. It is a visualization of coexistence and flowing together into the River of Language.
The letter M has a strong connection to both water and the universal sound “Ma” (first phonetic made by babies) describing the entity who provides the most cherished love in one’s most vulnerable state. Although the actual words may differ, almost every language recognizes a form of it.
[ Made in collaboration with Minahil Bukhari for the 2020 Indian Summer Festival ]Synchrony
Characters form words and words make phrases, by then meaning is constructed.
Even though throughout the whole world we use different languages, different alphabets, at this very particular time we are all going through the same experience.
We are all in synchrony.
My World Is Empty Without You
This drawing of my studio without people took on a different meaning when the lockdown started a few weeks ago. For the past few weeks, I still came to the studio every day while my collaborators were working from home. Instead of looking together at the screen where something was designed, we looked at each other through camera, network and liquid crystals. I was on my own in the studio but not alone; the empty tables a testimony to the mental presence of the others.
human concrete
In these times, it is more important than ever to realize that the only thing we have to do as humans is to coexist on this beautiful earth if we want to create so.
Everyone and everything on this earth is somehow connected.
But this artwork evinces an even more urgent issue; to realize that we as humans have to coexist with nature and find peace in our roots.
I wanted to demonstrate the absurdity of humanity living against nature, by presenting the human being in the absolute absence of nature, and titling the work with an oxymoron “human concrete”.
Kindness is cool
Let us be kind and open to each other, we are all in some sort of struggle or pain.
Let us be kind and forgiving to ourselves, healing is a process that takes time.

The World is One
A world unity for all of humanity is the coexist.
Il ponte silenzioso.
Il ponte silenzioso. by Editors Valentina D’Amora, Nadia Porfido, and Designer Matteo Pulina is a book that gives voice to emotions, after the collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa, leaves room for those who have really experienced the trauma, in a raw, real, clean way. A way to keep alive the precious memory of those days, restoring a role to those who directly experienced this tragedy: survivors, displaced persons, rescuers, but also the simple inhabitants of Valpolcevera, the territory where the tragedy occurred and which is tormented every day from the consequences of the collapse. The entire proceeds from the sale of the book were destined for educational projects run by associations and agencies already present in the area.
Everything started from the concept of space: the space that left the collapse of the bridge, the space that conceptually was created within us, the space that will be “filled” by the material reconstruction of the bridge, the space that will be filled with educational projects in the territory of Valpolcevera. The publication gives space to people who have experienced the trauma on their skin. Words want to take back the place, they want to go out, they want to transmit themselves, they want to be free not to be confined. In a world where everyone screams, silence can be seen. The white space offers silence.

CO[llag]EXIST 3
An experimental series of black and white collages, designed using everyday things and images we use or see. All three abstract collages aim to send a strong message about coexistence through an alternative way, representing feelings closely connected with poverty, climate change, wars, freedom, human rights, etc.
CO[llag]EXIST 3 is an experimental collage created out of abstract lines made out of black markers. All these lines, aim to represent the thoughts as well as the problems, each human has to think and face during his everyday life. In the end, this can be solved with coexistence and mutual support.
CO[llag]EXIST 2
An experimental series of black and white collages, designed using everyday things and images we use or see. All three abstract collages aim to send a strong message about coexistence through an alternative way, representing feelings closely connected with poverty, climate change, wars, freedom, human rights, etc.
CO[llag]EXIST 2 is an experimental collage created out of images with sunflowers which symbolize adoration, loyalty, and longevity as well as black spray paint which aims to communicate the message that good is most of the times covered with the bad, something which has to be treated correctly through coexistence.

CO[llag]EXIST 1 is an experimental collage created out of old Greek newspapers with articles about violence. The various layers as well as the abstract textures offer an interesting dimension to the artwork. Coexistence is the key when it comes to deal with problems such as violence and wars.

Coexisting contradictions
We are living in a world full of contradictions and inequalities.
A world where the richest 1% own more than half of the world’s wealth, with the other half living on less than $5.50 a day; where every day 10,000 people die because they lack access to affordable healthcare and each year 100 million are forced into extreme poverty due to healthcare costs (OXFAM).
All these inequalities and contradictions undermine the fight against poverty, damaging our economies and societies. We need therefore to rethink our current economic model, in favor of a new humanism, promoting coexistence and equality between people, without distinctions.
self love
