Hedone (ἡδονή) is the Greek Goddess of pleasure, enjoyment and delight.
The pandemic has changed the way we feel because everything is online. We can see the dimension but we can not touch and sense it. This 3D Art shows how our Hedone is melting away like our enjoyment of life does.

I was interested in how we perceive truth. Who says what is true and what is fake? That is the question with which I approached this work. I want you to decide what this is about. A photograph, an illustration, or both?

On March 17, two elderly Asians were assaulted one after another near Market Street in San Francisco. This happened a day after the Atlanta spa shootings, where six out of eight victims were Asian.

I moved to San Francisco four years ago and am a Chinese Singaporean. As the news spread, worried family and friends reached out. I had never received so many text messages. In my world, this was more of a virus than COVID-19. There was no one word to express the complex loop of emotions tugging at the heartstrings of our community. I was drawn to the fact that Chinese characters associated with one’s emotions often share the same Heart (忄) Radical. #stopasianhate.

The second edition of Merc’art took place in 2017 at Lx Factory in a container. Keeping the same motto of their first edition, the event was meant to be a meeting point between young artists and buyers and contribute to the democratization of art.

In this edition, they selected only thirty artists that exhibit two artworks each.

Since I would have to make two different artworks, I decide to work with opposites. Both shared the same color palette but while one has a grid-based composition, a symmetrical composition that emphasizes squared elements; the other has a freeform composition, asymmetrical, where circles and organic shapes are the highlighted elements.

The first edition of Merc’art took place in 2016 at Mercado da Ribeira, in Lisbon. The motto of Merc’art was to be a meeting point between young artists and buyers and contribute to the democratization of art.

In this edition, they hang all the artworks of the 50 artists on the ceiling of the market, making a suspended art gallery.

I was one of the fifty invited artists and my piece was an abstract composition full of details. Random tiles, modules, organic shapes, perspective blocks that want to escape from the paper, and flat forms, all of which made a complex but harmonious composition.

As part of a COVID-19 relief initiative in Providence, RI, Tatiana Gómez and I designed a series of three bilingual posters to be distributed around the businesses and government buildings. Their purpose is to follow the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines of Using masks, Social distancing, and Washing hands, while using a playful and inviting visual language and messaging, along with a colorful palette.

I like to call them something that goes along with cooking, because I see a lot of parallels between design and food, and I discover beautiful color palettes when I’m having fun in the kitchen.

New York, the city of all the colors of the world, never falling asleep, that’s why it is so nervous, rushing city, making sudden changes, the city crazy and therefore so difficult to live. The poster is made as vector graphics. The poster was inspired by the topic NEW YORK CITY in SHOWUSYOURTYPE, where I made several versions of projects devoted to New York City.
